Hello there,
Trust you’re well :) This is Yash here. PPI’s city-chapter communities in Mumbai as well as Pune met for an in-person mixer this week, and a point of conversation that emerged was how do most people even discover the term “public policy”. Surprising for me, the most common response was that our community members heard about policy for the first time when researching on the civil services as a career option and contemplating preparing for the UPSC!
Would love to hear your thoughts (as a simple reply to this email!) on when did you first come across the term? :)

The India Tech Policy (ITP) Fellowship:
👉🏽 The India Tech Policy (ITP) Fellowship seeks applicants for a 12-month non-resident policy fellowship focused on semiconductor technologies. Over 12 months, fellows will engage with research and analysis of the existing policy and legal frameworks impacting the semiconductor industry—their drawbacks and deficiencies—and offer policy recommendations.
👉🏽 The fellowship is a project of the Pacific Forum, a Honolulu-based foreign policy research institute focused on the Indo-Pacific. The Forum has a rich history of organising fellowships for professionals in the foreign policy sphere. With the increasing interactions between foreign policy, technology, law and national security, this fellowship will address the emerging challenges at the nexus of these topics.
👉🏽 Fellows will work with global mentors and access ongoing opportunities for professional growth in advanced technologies. Fellows will perform in-depth, independent research on an aspect of semiconductors and receive mentorship from the forum’s policy experts.

Community Updates💌
The vibrant PPI Communities in Mumbai as well as Pune met up in-person this week, to get to know people from the same space in their cities better, interact and foster a local ecosystem of opportunities and awareness overall!
Pune 📍
Mumbai 📍
All our communities are free to join, open to everyone and are continuously growing and evolving to maximise the opportunities and awareness about policy and careers in this broader space that we can create in cities across India’s 20 most vibrant cities.
The idea is to organise regular in-person meet-ups, workshops and other career activities around the year to help you grow and learn. Most knowledge in the broader public policy and social impact space resides with individuals, and is not institutionally captured. Knowledge transfer occurs most effectively when one gets to meet others :)
Do join and consider spreading the word so we can collectively help grow this space in your city and in India overall in the months and years to come!
