🗞️What’s In The News This Week?
India made public its aim to establish an Indian space station by 2035 and send an Indian to the Moon by 2040.
ISRO has earned admiration for its excellence and cost-effective missions: Chandrayan-3 made India the first nation to land near the lunar south pole. Aditya-L1 is unlocking the secrets of the Sun. More than 430 satellites from 34 countries have travelled to space aboard Indian rockets.
Why nations focus on space exploration?
Nearly 40% of the 169 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets are directly supported by space-based services. Satellites are used to map flood-prone areas, support Free Wi-Fi initiatives, monitor endangered species. It serves farmers and fishermen, weather forecasting, disaster management, navigation and public good.
Other highlights:
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved 8 major railway multi-tracking projects spanning 1,196 kilometers across 31 districts in 9 states.
The operational guidelines for the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP 3.0) was released for 2026–2031. It mandates rollout of 3D land-use mapping, drone-based cadastral surveys for rural inhabited areas, and full integration of unique land parcel identification numbers (Bhu-Aadhaar or ULPIN) with court records and banking mortgage databases

Nearly 40% of graduates aged 15–25 in the labour force are unemployed, as are about 20% of those aged 25–29. Only a small share land stable salaried jobs within a year of graduating.
The State of Working India 2026 Report by Azim Premji University traces a young person’s journey from school or college into work, and how that journey has changed over the last four decades.
