PPI’s Bengaluru Meetup + Mapping the SRHR Political Landscape with Project Kaleidoscope
Policy Post #213
Dear Reader,
We’re excited to share that PPI is hosting an in-person Bengaluru meetup next week, on 12th December, bringing together students, professionals and policy-curious minds for an evening of conversation and community. Alongside that, this edition covers our recent engagement at the CommonHealth Think Tank in Goa as part of a multi-year SRHR research and advocacy initiative. We also feature a deep read on how public policy education is evolving in India, and a policy career conversation you should listen to.
As always, you’ll find the updated jobs and opportunities database at the end.
Let’s get into Policy Post #213

Evolution of Public Policy Education in the Global South: The Case of India
(Phadnis, Aggarwal & Naveen, 2025)
Public policy education in India has transformed dramatically over the last two decades, moving from a small cluster of public administration programs to a broad, multi-institutional ecosystem with 56 active schools.
This paper traces how the field has expanded in response to India’s governance needs, shifts in state capacity, the rise of consulting and advisory roles, and the growing aspirations of young professionals.
👥 Community highlight
PPI, in partnership with the Hertie School, Berlin, is hosting an in-person community meet-up and policy conversation in Bengaluru — and we’d love to have you join us.
We’re meeting on Friday, 12 December, at Dialogues Cafe, Koramangala, for an evening built around the theme “Choices for a Warming World.” It’s a space to think together about how individuals, institutions and communities can respond to climate shifts, governance challenges and the transitions ahead.
We’re also excited to have Richik Bandyopadhyay from the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) with us for this session.
This gathering is open to all, and yes — coffee’s on us.
📲 Highlight of the Week
PPI at the CommonHealth Think Tank meeting & Project Kaleidoscope Launch
PPI joined partners in Goa for the in-person convening of Kaleidoscope: Reclaiming Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and Justice for All, an initiative anchored by ARROW, GFW, WGNRR, MAMA Network and India-based partners including SAHAJ, RUWSEC and CommonHealth.
As the Kaleidoscope Project Consultant, PPI is leading the political landscape analysis on abortion and SRHR in India. At the Goa convening, we presented early insights from this analysis to the wider collective, setting the stage for deeper research, evidence building and coordinated advocacy through 2026–2029.

✨ Spotlight of the Week
Our newest initiative at Public Policy India!
Each week, we’ll bring forward stories of people and organisations shaping India’s public policy and social impact landscape in their own unique ways. There’s thoughtful work happening across the country, and this series is simply a space to recognise it and learn from it together.
Raghavendar’s work bridges community mobilisation, civic engagement and institution-facing advisory roles. Through Youth for Seva and other initiatives, he has helped design volunteer-led public service systems that scale without losing human sensitivity. His journey offers a grounded, practitioner-driven lens on what it takes to build and sustain citizen-led governance efforts.

Extreme heat as a public health risk
Recent reporting shows heatwaves in India are producing immediate and long-term health harms: spikes in hospital admissions, heat-related morbidity, reduced work capacity for outdoor labourers, and heightened risk for vulnerable groups. Urban heat islands amplify these risks. Addressing this requires coordinated heat-action planning, protections for outdoor workers, and urban design that restores shade, ventilation and green cover. This is adaptation that has to happen now.
